Packing all your necessities for your next trip can be a bit daunting. There are endless lists on what you should and shouldn’t take with you. But the destination and the type of holiday determines the contents of your suitcase. So follow our clever hacks and master the art of packing. Whether you’re a “beach babe” or  an “urban explorer”, we have you covered.

Beach babe

All your necessities can be narrowed down to good swimwear, a decent sun cream, flip flops, shades (so you can discreetly do some people watching), microfibre towels and a waterproof camera. Pack in baby powder to brush off the sand easily. For any valuables, don’t forget re-sealable protection bags.

Camping enthusiast

Planning to spend a long weekend somewhere in the wilderness? Well, taking the appropriate equipment, such as a decent tent and a sleeping bag, is essential. You can still enjoy your eggs for breakfast, just keep them in a plastic bottle. Did you know you could make lamps out of jars by placing candles inside or using deodorant as an insect repellent? For your caffeine fix, pack sachets of instant coffees and teas.

Urban explorer

Bring light footwear so you can walk around as much as possible and, above all, comfortable clothes. You crave culture and exploration, so bring outfits that let you move around comfortably. You should avoid anything heavy or restricting, so wear your camera around your neck. Pack a bum bag and keep all your valuables, gadgets and entry tickets safe. Use digital guidebooks instead of heavy travel guides. Always pack a selection of plasters, in case of emergency. Remember to stay hydrated, by packing a water bottle such as the Bobble Filtered Water Bottle.

Energetic hiker

Firstly, consider lining your backpack with bin liners to make it more waterproof. You can also reduce the weight by packing dehydrated food. Place anything you might need more frequently, such as water bottles, on top. Wear robust footwear and consider jackets with plenty of pockets. Remember, there’s no dress code! To avoid blisters, rub your feet with Vaseline before putting your socks on.

Adventure junkie

Okay, you might not be into extreme fishing, but you’re a thrill seeker or perhaps an enthusiast of a particular activity. Your bag will probably contain anything from fishing rods (for extreme fishers) to mountain bikes…and then you probably forgot to pack anything else.

Planning a backpacking trip? It’s rather difficult to pack your life into one suitcase, but it’s possible. Write a list of necessities you won’t be able to live without. Save space and avoid wrinkled outfits by rolling your clothes. Pack in a roll of duct tape, which you can use for pretty much anything, from treating blisters to removing ticks.
