I had reserved a mid-sized SUV (like a RAV 4)for a trip to see my handicapped mother so that I could take her places. They tried to give me a huge Jeep Rubicon that I had to lift myself into, and there was no way Mom was climbing into. When I told them this, they said my only other options were to pay them $19 more dollars a day for a Highlander or take a full-sized sedan, but the sedan was the same price as what I had originally asked for. I attempted to advocate for myself and get the Highlander at no added cost, or get a discount for a sedan, but it was clear they weren’t willing to budge (which I remember personally getting a free upgrade on occasion pre-Covid.) Then my husband ended up with Covid, and we had to drive home instead of fly. Even though we were able to return the car the same day, just later and at a different location , they charged $300 for the change in drop off location, which was how much the reservation cost to begin with. Again, I was told that was just the way it was, and there was nothing they could or would do to consider lowering that cost. I guess the days of any customer service are gone, but it still disappoints me.
